Infinite Frontier Retiring 12/31/07

Coast Learning System’s astronomy course, Universe: The Infinite Frontier, is retiring 12/31/07.  It will no longer be available for use through INTELECOM after Fall 2007 term.  Coast has produced a replacement course called Astronomy: Observations and Theories which is already available.  Colleges that wish to use this new course will be able to license it directly from Coast.  They are offering a special discount:  Buy a one year license at $1,200 and get the next two years free ($20 per enrolled student, per term, applies).  For more information, contact Coast at (714) 241 6109 or coastlearning@coastline.edu.

"Partial Course

Use" Definition

Member Colleges may use up to 25% of the video programs – in their entirety -- from any INTELECOM course as an audiovisual supplement to instruction in face-to-face courses.  Partial Course Use under the Joint Powers Agreement of the Consortium does not permit, and should not be interpreted as permitting, the editing and using of clips or “portions” of a course (e.g. for use as a streamed clip in an online course).  For questions or further clarification, please contact Meg Cundiff or Espy Martinez.

Complimentary DVD Sets for Faculty Review 

To facilitate more thorough course reviews, INTELECOM is offering faculty complimentary DVD box sets for courses available in this format.  Return of DVD box sets to INTELECOM is not required.  Contact Espy Martinez at emartinez@intelecom.org for more information or to request a set.

Student Video Dowloads

Available Fall 2007

Beginning Fall 2007, INTELECOM will begin making video downloads for sixteen of its courses available for purchase by enrolled students. For a fee of $35 (per course, per term) students will be able to purchase video downloads for use on their Windows-based mobile devices, laptop or desktop computers.  Courses available for student download:

All files will be DRM-protected and encoded at 700kbps (640x480) for the sharpest possible presentation.  Look for a late Summer email announcement about the availability of video downloads on INTELECOM’s new and improved Online Student Store.

Our Families, Ourselves on Track

for Fall Course Use

Completion of Our Families, Ourselves is on schedule for Fall 2007 classes.  This marriage and family course, which replaces Portrait of a Family, correlates to the leading textbook Marriages and Families 6/e (Benokraitis; available now from Prentice-Hall).   The course package includes 18 video lessons on DVD or videotape, a student study guide, e-content, and a faculty guide with exam bank; all components will be available in late June/early July.  For details, contact Espy Martinez at emartinez@intelecom.org.
